Expert Support supported J. Frank in a project for Visa that was designed to update many of the call center software support systems. Expert Support helped design the interfaces, and wrote many of the documentation and training deliverables for the project.

Kestrel Institute (www.kestrel.edu) is a nonprofit computer science research institute developing and applying technology for synthesis and automated analysis of mission-critical systems.


KLA-Tencor (www.kla-tencor.com) is the world's leading supplier of process control and yield management solutions for the semiconductor and related microelectronics industries, with technology designed to help IC manufacturers manage yield throughout the entire wafer fabrication process—from R&D to final yield analysis.

For several years, Expert Support maintained one of the main intranet sites for KLA-Tencor's field service groups that supports the company's many software solutions. This site provided access to internal documentation, service request status, information about known issues and work arounds, and contact information when specialize support was needed, as well as meeting summaries and departmental plans.

LAM Research (www.lamrc.com) is a leading supplier of wafer fabrication equipment and services to the world's semiconductor industry, providing innovative productivity solutions for etch, chemical mechanical planarization, and cleaning.

Expert Support helped LAM recover hundreds of documents, such as release notes, product bulletins, and manuals, and then assisted LAM with the conversion of those document to FrameMaker.


LEGATO Systems, Inc. (www.legato.com) provides an integrated set of storage management software services that simplify the administration of client/server computing, helping enterprises leverage their business-critical, corporate data assets through information management and protection.

Expert Support provided Legato with a Senior Configuration Manager who helped Legato modify their build process for multiple platforms to be more automatic and reliable. Among the deliverables was a build script that ran automatically on a nightly basis. Beyond building the system on several platforms, the script also generated a report that was distributed to the team when the build was unsuccessful.


Lexicus, a division of Motorola (www.motorola.com), develops smart input solutions for smart devices, using intelligent keypad entry, natural handwriting processing, and noise robust speech recognition.

Expert Support wrote the first User's Guide for the QuickPrint product, which was a early PDA device (1995) that used a written language similar to Graffiti. We created both a hard copy document as well as an HTML version.


Liberate Technologies (www.liberate.com) is expanding outlets for the Internet, as well as being the standard-bearer for a movement to create and support information appliances with a platform based on open standards.

Export Support collected requirements from several organizations, made recommendations to improve Liberate's release engineering practices and product manufacturing process, and then in subsequent projects helped Liberate implement the recommendations.


Lightscape, now part of Autodesk, Inc. (www.autodesk.com), provided advanced visualization and lighting software tools to professionals in the design and entertainment industries, simulating the true physical properties of light and materials capturing lighting effects not normally obtained with conventional rendering systems.

Expert Support updated a massive online help project created in RoboHELP; indexed the User's Guide and Getting Started Guide; and updated links for 300+ topics and performed QA on existing links in six tutorial online help files.


Luminare Networks provides Web-enabled network design, verification, and deployment services to communications equipment vendors and service providers.

Expert Support was asked to make recommendations for improvement to Luminare's release engineering practices and product manufacturing processes, and to help redesign the reports that management received from the reporting software.

Meta Software Corporation (www.metasoftware.com) is a software vendor providing circuit analysis and simulation software (HSPICE), including a business process modeling (BPR) for simulation and workflow automation, meeting all BPR needs.

Expert Support provided Meta Software with a variety of UNIX system administration and network design and administration support.

NativeMinds, Inc., formerly Neuromedia and now a part of Verity, Inc. (www.verity.com), is the leading provider of automated, natural language sales and customer service solutions that help companies reduce customer support costs, increase sales, and enhance marketing by providing software and services to build and deploy automated virtual representatives vReps™ as the first-line of effective online customer relationship management.

Expert Support authored the training materials for the NeuroServer, and has updated them through two product releases.


NeoMagic Corporation (www.neomagic.com) is the first company to produce integrated circuits which integrate large amounts of DRAM memory with logic and analog functions.

Expert Support edited data books for a series of video acceleration chips produced by NeoMagic for portable computers, created a database to track changes, and produced change reports that were used by QA and the engineering team when reviewing the product and the documentation.


NetBoost, Inc. (www.netboost.co.uk) developed a family of policy-based software products that enabled customers to develop and deliver wire-speed applications that managed network-packet traffic. NetBoost was purchase by Intel.

Expert Support designed and wrote the 400-page "SDK Reference" and "Developing Applications Using the SDK". Expert Support was NetBoost's documentation department until its purchase by Intel.


Netcode (purchased by Netscape) was a developer of Java development tools.

Expert Support assisted Netcode with updating its Java documentation to reflect the state of the software before its purchase by Netscape. The changes were made directly in the Java code, for use by the javadoc facility. Information was gleaned both from the code itself and from interviews with the engineering team.


NetManage (www.netmanage.com) is a software developer providing system management tools including the access, publishing, and integration products that are needed today, along with the new solutions and services to bridge information systems to Internet economy.

For Aqueduct (acquired by NetManage), Expert Support built a simulation of a large corporate enterprise, with a variety of PC workstations and software applications. Aqueduct's tools enabled an IS manager to keep track of what software was running where and what resources were being consumed. The objective was to enable the IS manager to assess usage and be able to plan for upgrades and migration. The simulation model included reports that an IS manager would want for day-to-day operations, and for planning.


Netscape Communications (www.netscape.com) is a software vendor providing Web browsers and servers (but you knew that).


Novell, Inc. (www.novell.com) is a leading provider of Net services software that secures and powers all types of networks' intranets, the Internet, and extranets; corporate and public; wired to wireless as one Net, across leading operating systems.

When Novell purchased Software Transformation, Expert Support continued to be the documentation department for the Appware Foundation product. We reformatted all the documents to meet Novell standards and expedited work on the Developer's Guide and the Tutorial, while maintaining the 2000 pages of reference manuals.


nthOrbit Inc. (www.nthorbit.com), now called Certus Software, provides software that helps companies with extended manufacturing networks manage work-in-process exceptions to reduce total network inventory levels, reduce E&O, drive down costs, and improve gross margins.

Expert Support updated the User's Guide, Administration Reference Guide, API Guide, and Installation Manual for the 1.0 release of nthPower, nthOrbit's production network execution management system.
