Expert Support assisted Selby Venture Partners in creating their initial business plan. We formatted it, edited it, and prepared it for publication.


Silicon Graphics, Inc. (www.sgi.com) is a leader in software design and high-performance computing technology, ranging from desktop workstations and servers to the most powerful supercomputers in the world, and delivering advanced computing and 3D visualization capabilities to scientific, engineering, and creative professionals and large enterprises.

Expert Support provided a graphic artist to the marketing department to create presentations to be used at conferences and by the sales force.


Software Transformation, Inc. (acquired by Novell) is a developer of cross-platform, C/C++-based software development environment.

Expert Support created and maintained the 3000 pages of documentation for STI's cross-platform development platform (API). Expert Support worked closely with the API architect to ensure that the API was consistent and comprehensive and acted as STI's documentation department until its purchase by Novell.


Sony Corporation (www.sony.com) includes operations in manufacturing and engineering, design, sales, marketing, product distribution, and customer service of products for electronics, recording media, and systems integration for market segments including consumer, broadcast, commercial, institutional, components, and original equipment manufacturers. Project Summary


Sophia Systems Co, Ltd. (www.sophia.com) sells and supports high-performance in-circuit emulators (ICE) and debuggers for the development of embedded microcomputer systems.

Expert Support became Sophia's first documentation department and wrote and updated all the product documentation for the first several releases of the product. In addition, Expert Support provided a significant amount of UI design review and consulting for the products.


Sun Microsystems (www.sun.com) is a global provider of business and industry solutions, including a wide range of hardware and software products.

Sun Microsystems was one of Expert Support's first customers back in 1990. We have worked for a variety of organizations within Sun over the years. Most notably, we have worked extensively creating presentations, Just The Facts, documents, white papers, data sheets, quick reference cards, and web site content for products. Much of the work is destined for sale and channel training on the product. We have also created presentations for a variety of seminars and workshops.

Expert Support provided Trilogy with senior software developers who specialize in intelligent systems to design and build configuration applications for Trilogy’s customers, including Lucent and Sun Microsystems.

Varian Medical Systems, Inc. (www.varian.com) is a biomedical research company specializing in oncology studies, X-ray tube products for the worldwide diagnostic imaging industry, and breakthrough research and development. Project Summary


Ventro (formerly Chemdex, now NexPrise) is a leading B2B E-Commerce for Life Sciences, Chemdex unites life science enterprises, researchers, and suppliers to streamline business processes, enhance productivity and reduce costs.

In the early days of Chemdex, Expert Support assisted the HR department in creating their policies and procedures booklets. We provided editing, formatting, and graphic arts services.

With Ventro, Expert Support helped create on-line documentation for the C-Link and R-Link projects. We also wrote the on-line help for the Web Catalog Manager.


Verano, Inc. (www.verano.com) is a business-to-business (B2B) infrastructure company, delivering a complete supply chain automation (SCA) solution for integrating business processes and sharing information between trading partners.

Over a two-year period, Expert Support provided technical writing and production services to create and update the Illuminar documents and on-line help system.


VERITAS Software (www.veritas.com), now part of Symantec, is the leading enterprise-class application storage management software provider, whose goal is to ensure continuous availability of business-critical information by delivering integrated, cross-platform storage management software solutions.


Vicarious, Inc., was a company that produced interactive, entertainment CDs. Project Summary


VStor is an organization that provides advanced software for storage systems.

Expert Support provided VStor with a variety of configuration management and release control services. Our engineer was in charge of making sure that the build system worked smoothly as the product changed over time. He also trained new engineers on how to follow the release management processes in place. Most of the work was done using ClearCase. The platforms included UNIX and Linux.

WebEx Communications, Inc. (www.webex.com) provides real-time, interactive multimedia communication services that meeting-enable the web sites of their customers and partners, with services delivered using their globally distributed network and scalable platform.


WebTV Networks (www.webtv.com), now MSN TV, drives Microsoft's efforts in the television arena, with the goal being to continue expanding the traditional role of television. Project Summary


Whistle Communications a wholly owned subsidiary of IBM (www.ibm.com/us/), wants to bring a new level of simplicity to the complicated task of establishing Internet communications in small businesses. Whistle leads in the "thin server" or "internet appliance" market with the InterJet™ product line.

Expert Support authored the original hardcopy and on-line product documentation for the InterJet.

Xerox Corporation (www.parc.com), PARC, is a subsidiary of Xerox Corp, is a global, industry-based document solutions company that combines services, software, and hardware into partnerships that bring high value to their customers' mission-critical business processes.

Expert Support updated the internal documents for the latest releases of PARC's printer operating system, "DocuPrint NPS/IPS". The architecture was updated in the 7.2 release to incorporate IPS in the same system as NPs and to do color printing, and in the 8.0 release they added miscellaneous new features, a GUI, and a Web-based administrative UI. Expert Support also consulted on the UI design as it developed.

In addition to keeping the internal documents up to date, Expert Support wrote the original release notes, updated them for version 8.0, each minor pre-release version, the recent release, and the post-release patch versions (about every 2-4 weeks).


XIDAK, Inc. (www.xidak.com) is a software developer with three main products: MAINSAIL, a portable programming language and environment; Orion, an Extended Relational Database Management System; and Ninja, a Java accelerator using ahead-of-time compilation and enhanced memory management to improve performance for large Java applications.

Expert Support worked on the documentation for the MAINSAIL and Orion products. We updated the MAINSAIL Language Manual to reflect a new version of their language. We then ported the entire document suite to FrameMaker (about 800 pages). At that point, we took on the Orion documentation and produced the first versions of those manuals.
