Senior
Engineer and Training Developer
Shoko has been developing
commercial software applications, creating training courses, and
writing technical documentation since 1983. Shoko has expertise
in all aspects of a project life cycle, including requirements analysis,
design, project planning, implementation, testing, and deployment.
Her development experience enables her to quickly understand software
products and methodologies and produce effective task-based training
and user guides.
Shoko has been with Expert
Support since 1994 and has worked on a variety of projects:
- PulseMDShoko
developed a web interface for medical clinic personnel using VBScript
and Active Server Pages. This web interface ran against a Microsoft
Access 2000 database. Medical clinic personnel use this application
to create and edit patients, schedule patient visits, create custom
prescription profiles, and create custom billing (CPT) and diagnosis
(ICD9) code profiles. Shoko also implemented VB (Visual Basic)
components to process XML data files and reformat data for import
into a Palm handheld device.
- Matteson Realty ServicesShoko
designed and developed a custom Microsoft Access 97 application
consisting of forms, reports and Visual Basic for Applications
modules to manage investor information such as determining portfolio
valuation, calculating quarterly distributions, calculating investors
share of property sales, recording individual investor sales and
purchases, etc. The database schema contains 24 tables. Shoko
was also instrumental in leading this company into the information
age by computerizng their business operation. This project required
analysis of the current business practices of the firm, configuring
a property management software package, documenting the configuration,
evaluating hardware and software purchases, converting managed
properties to the new mode of operation, and training property
personnel.
- Network ApplianceShoko
developed a custom Microsoft Access 97 application to generate
five different price lists for Network Appliances many product
offerings.
- RightWorksShoko
designed and developed a three-day course to teach business partners
how to use RightWorks, a business-to-business (B2B) procurement
software. She developed the first version of this course in one
week. She also rewrote substantial portions of the User Guide
while also updating it for the most recent version of RightWorks.
- CavroShoko created
a tutorial application and wrote a tutorial for Cavro Express.
Cavro Express is a software package, based on VB COM objects,
that controls the operations of a micropipetting laboratory robot.
The tutorial application implemented a QUANTA Lite Enzyme Linked
Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) to detect particular antibodies in
human serum. The tutorial led people who were somewhat familiar
with VB through the process of creating a VB program using the
Express COM objects.
- PlatinumShoko
designed and developed a three-day course to teach engineers how
to use ObjectPro, an object-oriented development environment/tool.
- ObjectivityShoko
designed and developed a three-day course to teach engineers how
to use Objectivity for Java, the Java interface to an object-oriented.
- XidakShoko designed
and developed a three-day course to teach engineers how to use
an object/relational hybrid database product.
- @HomeWrote a
system administration and operations guide for @Homes internal
order-entry system.
Prior to Expert Support,
Shoko was a Project Manager at Consilium. Shoko worked on a Manufacturing
Execution System called FlowStream, an object-oriented client-server
application developed in C++ and Motif. Shoko oversaw a staff of
up to 15 engineers. She was responsible for the design and development
of key pieces of functionality that included reservation and dispensing
of raw materials used in production, scheduling, object editors,
and dispatching.
At Teknowledge, where
Shoko worked as a Project Leader and Knowledge Engineer, she was
involved in the requirements analysis, design, and implementation
of small- and large-scale commercial applications for companies
like General Motors and Owens Corning Fiberglas.
Shoko also supervised
curriculum development teams in the design and development of several
two-week training courses for Teknowledges expert system development
products.
When Shoko isnt
working at her paying job, she is busy raising her two daughters,
gardening, and dreaming of the day that she can travel internationally
again.
