The exchange rate of the MDL/ US Dollar is primarily influenced by five factors. Central bank intervention by the National Bank of Moldovan helps maintain stability, and remittances from citizens working abroad are an important source of foreign currency inflows. High dependence on imported energy and trade variances are also significant factors. Furthermore, geopolitical stability and support from international organizations such as the EU and IMF are essential for investor confidence. Finally, the central bank's inflation and interest rate policies influence the currency's value, which in turn determines the value of the leu in the current economic climate.
