The RSD/ US Dollar exchange rate is primarily determined by the managed floating exchange rate system of the National Bank of Serbia, which intervenes in the market to maintain currency stability. Furthermore, the interest rate differential between Serbia and the European Central Bank attracts portfolio investment from abroad. Active foreign direct investment (FDI) and steady remittances from Serbians living abroad also significantly support the currency, offsetting the country's structural trade deficit. Finally, geopolitical stability in the Balkan region and progress in the EU accession process influence the confidence of foreign investors and market valuations.

The US Dollar (USD) is strong because it is the world's primary reserve currency and the most widely used currency in global trade and finance. High global demand for USD-denominated assets, especially US Treasury bonds, continuously supports its value. Its strength is also reinforced by deep financial markets, global trust in US institutions, and safe-haven demand during economic crises.

The Swiss Franc (CHF) is considered very stable thanks to Switzerland's low inflation, strong banking system, and cautious monetary policy. The Singapore Dollar (SGD) is also stable, managed through a currency basket by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Established in 1214 under King Stefan Nemanjić, the medieval silver Serbian dinar (RSD) flourished until the Ottoman conquest in 1459. Reintroduced in 1868 under Prince Mihailo, it pegged to the French franc before merging into the Yugoslav dinar in 1920. Following Yugoslavia's collapse, the currency was revived in 2003, becoming Serbia’s independent currency in 2006.
