Technical Writer
For the last ten years, Max has written for a wide variety of audiences, and has extensive experience in
software documentation. In addition to technical writing, his background includes editing, graphics creation,
educational writing, template creation, and page layout.
In his time at ESI, Max has specialized in API documentation and installation manuals. He excels at writing step-by-step
walkthroughs of complex processes, from extensive Java code examples to UNIX shell commands to GUI-driven tasks.
He honed these skills as an employee of the Oracle New England Development Center, where he wrote documentation for
Oracle interMedia Java Classes, Oracle interMedia Annotator, and Oracle Fail Safe.
Max learned the ability to meet deadlines as a sportswriter for the Cabinet Press and Nashua Telegraph in New Hampshire.
After more than two years of experience with weekly deadlines for up to ten articles, or daily deadlines of
"twenty minutes after the game ends", adapting to the changing timetables of the average product development cycle
poses little threat.
Max is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, with a BA in Creative Writing and Professional Writing,
and he has also studied at the University of New Hampshire.
Outside of work, Max has spent a lot of time involved in college and community theatre, including acting, directing,
producing, and writing. He has been on the board of directors for two theatre companies and is a founding member of
the No Parking Players improvisational comedy troupe in Pittsburgh, PA. He also spends more than a little time
reading with his wife and her cat.
